Innovation in Tobacco Control: Education, Advocacy, and Treatment

ATTUD Video Contest

Background

The Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD) is an organization of nicotine/tobacco treatment professionals dedicated to the promotion of and increased access to evidence-based tobacco treatment for the nicotine/tobacco user. In observation of 2022 World No Tobacco Day (WNTD, 2022), ATTUD is inviting video entries for a contest to highlight innovative practices in treatment of tobacco use and dependency, treatment provider education, or tobacco control advocacy. The winning videos will be retained by ATTUD and displayed on the ATTUD website and other platforms to promote innovative practices among tobacco control professionals internationally.

Contest Guidelines

Video entries should contain previously unpublished, original content and be the sole property of the entrant(s). The video should describe an evidence-based, innovative practice in tobacco treatment, treatment provider education, or tobacco control advocacy. The audience for video entries should be tobacco treatment professionals, tobacco control advocates, and/or educators. The video may be in the form of a public service announcement or practitioner description that may include, for example, professional or client interviews/testimonials. Videos must be submitted in YouTube format. For directions on how to upload a video to YouTube, please click here. Videos must be in English or include translation into English.

If you are recording your video in a language other than English, you must include an English translation. Directions for inserting English translations for videos on YouTube can be found here: How to insert subtitles and captions. You will need to first convert your video to YouTube format before adding the subtitles.

The copyright for the video is retained by the entrant(s), but by entering the contest, entrant(s) agree to allow ATTUD rights to display content on the ATTUD website, Facebook page, YouTube channel (in a public playlist) and other public or private platforms without restriction.

Video entries will be judged by a panel consisting of ATTUD communication and international committee members. A first-place prize ($500 USD and a one-year ATTUD membership) and second place prize ($250 USD and a one-year ATTUD membership) will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • Content reflects current evidence in tobacco treatment, treatment provider education, or tobacco control advocacy (40%)
  • Content demonstrates innovation in tobacco treatment, treatment provider education, or tobacco control advocacy (40%)
  • Quality of presentation (20%)

Winning entries will be displayed on the ATTUD website, the ATTUD YouTube channel, and other public platforms to promote WNTD and international reach for ATTUD membership. Only one entry per person or team will be accepted, and entries must be unpublished material that is the sole property of the entrant. Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
