Why Join ATTUD?

ATTUD is an organization of providers dedicated to the promotion of and increased access to evidence-based tobacco treatment for the tobacco user.
ATTUD has international reach, with members in the U.S., Canada, the UK and nearly two dozen other countries. Membership meetings are held in conjunction with other national and world conferences.

Goals of ATTUD 

  • Network with Treatment Specialists
  • Establish standards for core competencies, training and credentialing of Tobacco Treatment Specialists 
  • Promote awareness and availability of effective tobacco treatments  
  • Establish multiple forums for information exchange on best practices and innovations in treatment  
  • Serve as a reliable and respected resource for  the professional community  
  • Promote the implementation of, and increase access to evidence-based practice across the spectrum of treatment modalities via policy, funding and systems changes 

ATTUD addresses important issues in our field, including:  

  • Development of the Core Competencies for Tobacco Treatment Specialists (TTS), now widely adopted by numerous tobacco treatment training programs 
  • Establish a database of TTS training programs to serve as a resource for those seeking training  
  • Create an accrediting program for TTS training programs 
  • Collaborate with Global Tobacco Partnership to enrich training for those who deliver treatment for tobacco use and dependence  

Qualifications for Membership

Membership in this association is open to any individual who is entering the profession, currently active or has been historically active in the treatment of tobacco use and dependence. This includes:

  • Health Care Providers
  • Counselors
  • Tobacco treatment specialists)
  • Researchers
  • Educators/Trainers
  • Policy makers
  • Students
